I just found a neat site called BadAstronomy.com - a neat site that spells out science misconceptions on Astronomy.
One of my pet peeves is actually Astrology and people not knowing enough science to know how it cannot work. Thinking along those lines I came up with an idea to compare the astrology predictions on a new page I want to build where the zodiac signs are shown side by side from different astrologers so you, the reader, can read them all straight across and see how close or far they are from each other.
The more horiscopes I can get, the larger the sample size and the better the predictions should get - right? My prediction - when held next to each other they will be rather inconsistant and tend to give conflicting advice rather than agreeing. This will hopefully bring all of humanity back to its senses and we can expend that collective energy on more meaningful and relevant endevors.
Food for thought - ask an astrologer and an astronomer what sign the sun was in during your birth. That is supposed to be your "sign". Oddly enough, the Astrologers will go based on 2000 year old information and be a full sign off. The astronomers will be able to pull up a sky chart - one like the one here: http://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/Yoursky And be able to tell you exactly what is going on. Punch in your birthdate in the format 1968-10-10 20:00:00 to get a daytime reading. The yellow circle with darker yellow circles in it is the Sun symbol. What "sign" is it in?
My Astrology sign (by dates - Oct 10th) is Libra - but this chart clearly shows the sun in Virgo! That is the sign one month EARLIER than Libra!
Yahoo - why do you put this stuff on your main page?! 0 comments, (272 reads) All Articles by, Admin
